Clariti’s government software helps North America’s largest and fastest growing communities deliver exceptional community development, permitting, and licensing experiences online. Every day, our solutions help governments approve more permits for new homes, business licenses for entrepreneurs, and professional licenses for essential workers.

What will you work on?

Reporting to the VP, Finance, in a fully remote role, the Financial Controller will lead all aspects of financial accounting including receivables, payables, payroll, tax, and audit. Manage the month-end close process, cash management, and support relationships with bankers and other service providers. Will manage the Senior Accountant role as part of the finance team.

This is a maternity leave fixed-term role, with the possibility of extension or permanent position.

As a Financial Controller at Clariti, you’ll get to :

  • Ensure accurate completion of month and year-end close processes and generation of financial statements.
  • Oversee or prepare all financial reports, such as income statement, statement of cash flows.
  • Update and monitor KPI worksheets.
  • Support preparation of the annual budget.
  • Prepare financial analysis and reports for external bankers.
  • Maintain internal controls for client invoices, revenue recognition and other accounting functions.
  • Manage payroll cycles.
  • Identify cost savings opportunities and efficiencies.
  • Ensure tax filings and government remittances are completed and filed.
  • Oversee daily operations of the finance team and manage direct report, ensuring opportunities for continued growth and learning.
  • Liaise with the various department leaders including VP Finance on accounting issues as necessary.

What you bring to the team?

  • Knowledge and understanding of financial reporting requirements for businesses with Canadian and US activities.
  • Experience leading a month-end close process and preparing reports for bankers.
  • Leadership skills and experience coaching/mentoring senior accounting staff.
  • Ability to build cross-functional relationships with internal leaders and external clients.
  • Attention to detail and presentation of information.
  • Knowledge of accounting in a SaaS software business is a strong asset.
  • Proficiency in accounting software systems and advanced excel knowledge; experience using Sage Intacct (ERP) is an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Professional certification or senior CPA student.
  • 2-4 years of experience in a Controller role
